Owner's Representative oversight of a major refit program at a leading South Florida shipyard, encompassing main engine rebuilds, generator overhauls, stabilizer fin servicing, and full interior and exterior refurbishment — coordinating between shipyard, captain, and classification surveyors on behalf of ownership.
Engaged to provide service as Master aboard the SKIPPER, a 310,000 dwt crude oil tanker seized by U.S. forces off the coast of Venezuela in December 2025. Built in 2005, the vessel was sanctioned for participating in an illicit network smuggling Iranian and Venezuelan oil to fund foreign terrorist organizations and operating with fraudulent AIS.
Over a decade of senior command aboard nine vessels of the U.S. Maritime Administration's Ready Reserve Fleet in support of U.S. and allied military operations worldwide. Led more than 25 vessel activations, including no-notice turbo activations requiring rapid crew assembly and no-fail Class and Flag State inspections.
Management of a 50-metre newbuild at Delta Marine in Seattle, Washington. Worked closely with the yard and owner throughout the build program, responsible for establishing the vessel as a leading choice in the yacht charter market — developing media packages, charter rates, and cruising schedules to position the yacht for immediate commercial success on delivery.
187' Expedition/Research Vessel. Directed helicopter, dive, submersible, media, and science mission operations across major international expeditions — including locating the Air France Flight 447 wreckage and flight recorder using REMUS 3000 AUVs, a successful giant squid capture mission with JAMSTEC and the Discovery Channel, biofluorescence research in the Solomon Islands with the American Museum of Natural History.
Managed the implementation of full ISM and ISPS compliance audit for a fleet of 3 vessels under Gibraltar flag, identifying significant non-conformities and providing a structured remediation program. All vessels brought into full compliance within the agreed timeline with zero detentions.
Senior project management of drydock and repair programs across more than 10 U.S. Government vessels in support of national sealift capability. Scope included hull inspections and steel renewals, propeller shaft and rudder overhauls, sea chest and through-hull servicing, main engine and auxiliary machinery overhauls, and USCG/ABS class surveys. Coordinated directly with shipyard management, government contracting officers, and classification surveyors — ensuring no-fail inspection outcomes, cost control, and on-schedule return to operational readiness.
Delivery of the 80.01-metre converted humanitarian support vessel DAWN from Damen Shiprepair & Conversion in Amsterdam following sea trials near Den Helder. Led and managed a 20-person international crew on a transatlantic passage during winter North Atlantic conditions, overseeing onboard systems commissioning and coordinating resolution of shipyard warranty issues with the owner's team on behalf of the newly commissioned vessel's humanitarian support mission in the Caribbean.
Senior advisory role during the major restoration of S/Y NAHLIN at a leading German shipyard. Built in Scotland in 1930 and originally powered by steam turbines, NAHLIN is one of the most historically significant superyachts in existence. Responsibilities included implementing the company's safety and environmental policy, recruiting and vetting crewmembers, maintaining the vessel's class and flag state documentation, and reviewing and strengthening the Safety Management System in preparation for return to service following the conversion to diesel-electric propulsion.
